A successful MLM presentation starts with a format you can scale up or down according to the situation.
Want a solution for a versatile MLM meeting format? Something you could use in a home meeting, at a coffee shop, online, or in an office conference room?
Would you love it if you could conduct a credible, effective meeting in under one hour?
Would you love to know your new partners could confidently duplicate in their first week of business?
Well, if you have a basic “tour” video presentation, and this template, you have magic at the touch of a keystroke.
And by magic, I mean that I have even worked this format by speakerphone to groups around a kitchen
table several states away! (or time zones, or continents!) With creativity and the right tools, you’re unstoppable.
This is the 5-part format, followed by the break-down:
I. Intro
II. Movie/Slides/online “Tour”
III. Demo
IV. Testimonials
V. Enrolling close
Steps to Prep:
• Complete your 30-second story; lock it down
• Make sure you have either a quiet place to show the movie on your laptop, a “video in” cable to connect your laptop to a TV, or connection to a projector and a screen.
• A reliable internet connection is helpful
• A unit of physical product
• Photo testimonial card (laminated is ideal)
• Either the printed enrollment form or computer for enrolling after the meeting (both is best)
• No children or pets present (no matter what)
• Dress for success
• If possible have upline present, OR on standby by phone
I. Intro
• Welcome and thank guests.
• Share 30-second story (use the 30-second story training sheet)
II. Movie
• Push play (do not feel the need for lengthy set up, let the tool do the work)
III. Demo
• allow them to sample product if possible; this must be done simply, without disrupting the presentation. If it’s a bottle of skin care, allow them to try and pass; if its a juice or a food, prepare a tray ahead of time with individual samples spaced evenly in sample cups
• read bullets on a prepared, laminated card, pass the card around (Again, no need to embellish, stick to the bullets on the card, focus on the visual results of the photos) This card should list benefits, not features! Read from a copy of the same card they are passing around, this communicates ease of duplication, your “I can do this!” factor.
IV. Testimonials
• Ideally, one product testimonial and one business testimonial, from different people if possible
If you have a house host, this is the time to bring them in and have them share. If you have a trainee, this is an excellent opportunity to give them practice at sharing
• great time to get upline on the speakerphone for endorsement and support
V. Enrolling close
• Direct your guests to the paper enrollment form and the pack you recommend for the best start in their business. Offer an alternate best choice so that they are NOT choosing YES or NO, but rather Manager or Executive, Silver or Gold, Starter or Presidential, etc.
• Invite your guests into your vision of team. Briefly share your thoughts on their strengths and your confidence in them. Most people expect to be invited, so don’t be shy, they are already present with you, that means they are prepared to make a decision in some form. If their decision is to “think it over”, ask specifically what issues are settled and which issues bear thinking over for them. Be respectful, yet persist in understanding their issue: is it cost, time commitment, spouse support, etc.?
• I like to offer a handshake and a “Welcome to the team!” to close the meeting if its a one one one. Always do the same with each guest who enrolls at larger meetings, as well. Again, people are looking for visual and verbal clues that you are with them, that they can do this, and that they’ve made a good decision. Give them their next event to attend, whether its a team call, a opportunity webinar, a corporate update or other event. Engage them right out of the gate.
Notes:
• Always keep things simple with a mind toward ease of duplication
• If you do have a host other than the presenter, meaning the person whose home it is, they welcome, edify and introduce the host, but DO NOT tell their story (that is the presenter’s job)
• No need to add or embellish each step. Stick to the format, the tools, and keep your stories short
• If you are the upline support, remember to reverse edify the host/presenter, let the group know how fortunate they are to spend time with the host & presenter
• Always have a new partner in training with you. Assign them to greet guests, assist with samples, enrollments, and testimonials. When they are not in action, instruct them to sit quietly and take notes, and to never interrupt or add comments unless called upon. This demonstrates to guests that when they enroll, they will be trained in a similar way. It also keeps the focus on the authority of the presenter. Make a point to thank your assistant often, and tell your guests that he or she is in training, and that training and building confidence is part of your team culture.
• When sharing the demo, the reason you’re sharing the product is not to sell your product, but rather to “prove the concept” of the business. Good products and results are at the heart of a credible business.
There’s more to share on this foundational topic. More to come soon! Until then, jump in and set up a meeting before the week is over. I know I will!
Have fun, build and prosper! As always, let me know your thoughts and questions.

Hi Stephanie,
Definitely very informative and the emphasis on on duplication in this template is important. Great for beginners to adapt and implement. Thanks for sharing this offline technique and I look forward to seeing more future posts like this.

Thanks Christina. I’ve found that many intermediate and experienced marketers are also doing the meeting right, and have for years even, yet pointing out some of the big picture thinking behind the template helps them to be more deliberate in their team operations. Thanks for stopping by, I’ll be blogging weekly on MLM foundations.
Fabulous post and a very important one as well. Getting the foundational principles right is key to the success in Network Marketing or any other business for that matter.
Your template for home meeting is one we have been using for years. So good to know I am in good company and of course we both use it because it works. What a concept!
Look forward to more great content!

Hi Stephanie,
Having the blueprint for a simple, duplicatable presentation is one of the foundational keys to building a long term profitable business. I like that you have taken the time to outline the basics here of creating such a presentation. I particularly like that you included “dress for success.” With so many people hiding behind their computers these days, it’s easy to forget that we need to put on something besides an old tee shirt when we meet with our potential business partners!
Great post! I really like your spirit!

Mary Lou, nice to hear your feedback, thanks for stopping by. Though my favorite mode is behind the computer, I have many in my organization who prefer trade shows, home parties, health fairs, and home meetings. I will put on lipstick n’ heels to support them, and it’s important that we all have something consistent that scales up or down, across methods. That said, I love my tee-shirt (in the winter its my trusty old Gap sweatshirt).
Thanks Faith!
Thanks Stephanie… so well thought out and useful information. All great learning and reminders…
Thanks Mary! Hope all is well for you and yours!
This is excellent Stephanie, thank you. A very concise, step by step, easy to understand and follow proceedure for presentation and enrollment.

Thanks, Jeannine. Yes, keep it simple.
I really enjoyed reading this post. I’ve been to a number of MLM meetings that didn’t go smoothly at all and the presenter could have used this information very much. The thing I like about this article is that it spells it out for you, it’s simple and easy to follow with no guesswork.
Hello Steph!
You made a great break down here, I’m not particular with establishing a template, but you made a great breakdown here and it finds me to do it. Thanks for this great break down and the following advices. Thanks much!
